Welcome In 2005, thanks to the generosity of many donors, a new Valley of the Moon Children’s Home was completed and replaced the old, outdated, crowded facility. Generous donors provided equipment, furnishings, and other items to meet a wide variety of needs for the children. Our needs continue; we need your help to maintain the warm and comfortable environment of the Valley of the Moon Children’s Home. This site is designed much like a bridal or baby registry. You may select items to purchase or needs to fund from various categories. Payment for the items that you choose to donate can be made through Paypal (see the link when you are ready to purchase) or by sending a check payable to Valley of the Moon Children’s Foundation, Post Office Box 11671, Santa Rosa, California 95406 (Please note “Wishlist” in the memo section of your check). The Valley of the Moon Children’s Home is Sonoma County’s only home for children who are victims of physical and sexual abuse, abandonment and neglect. In most cases, children are removed from their homes for their protection by law enforcement officials - with little or no advance notice. Our resident children range in age from birth to 18 years; children remain at the Home until a suitable home placement can be found. The children arrive at the Valley of the Moon Children’s Home with only the clothes that they are wearing and perhaps with a favorite toy or blanket. They are often frightened and confused. Upon arrival at the Children’s Home, the children are welcomed and reassured by experienced and well-trained staff members; the atmosphere at the Children’s Home is warm and caring. For many of these children, regular, well-balanced meals, health and dental care, a safe and secure home, and consistent school attendance are new and much-needed experiences.
